Spending the extra money when it really counts is a lesson I am finally starting to learn after years of doing the opposite! I have always been a frugal shopper, so I often hesitated to choose the higher-ticket item when given the opportunity. However, as I find myself replacing certain items and shopping with a goal of simplicity in mind, I have started to bite the bullet and invest in higher quality when I can. Through this process, I have definitely discovered some pricier items that are completely worth the investment!
I know that a dishwasher isn’t truly a necessity. Obviously many people survive without them and many choose to wash by hand by preference. But the few times I have had to go stretches without my dishwasher have taught me that this appliance is crucial to holding my household together! It’s an item that takes a lot of abuse, is used at least once a day and helps me with hosting guests and providing a healthy menu for my family (both of which are high priorities to me). I have a fairly cheap dishwasher, and I regret not spending more on a better model because it frustrates me to no end! The next time I have to replace my dishwasher, I will be looking for a Bosch and here is why.
The Bosch dishwasher cleans like a machine. My parents have owned a Bosch dishwasher for about fifteen years and they have been super happy with it. They cook a lot and run that dishwasher constantly when they are entertaining. I have been AMAZED with how it performs! I have seen my mom put the stainless steel bowl of the Instant Pot into the dishwasher after cooking a huge batch of our Southern favorite, grits. I am telling you, that pot washed clean without pre-washing or scraping. If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I never would have believed it. A pot with grits cooked into it is a dishwashing nightmare but the Bosch washed it clean with one go! That is something my low-end Frigidaire could never begin to accomplish.
The Bosch is BIGGER. I have always felt, if you are using a dishwasher, then you should really load it up so I am looking for a large-capacity machine with plenty of room. In this case bigger really is better! After all, if I can’t fit half my kitchen in there then why bother? These machines are really well-designed and some even have a third rack to maximize space. I have seen how it can be loaded (and over-loaded) and I gotta say, I’m impressed!
The Bosch runs like a whisper. My mom and dad have an open-plan kitchen leading to their living room and dining room and that is where we all gather at get-togethers and holidays. With just my immediate family that is ten adults, four children and three dogs. Trust me when I say, we don’t need any extra noise to contend with and the Bosch brand is famous for running quickly and quietly rather than sounding like a roaring waterfall as you serve dessert to your guests. In fact, it’s touted as the quietest brand in the industry!
The Bosch keeps going and going. Most Bosch brand dishwashers have a longer life-span than average because they are built to last. The parts are sturdy and even the accessories have a heavy-weight feel to them. If the racks in a dishwasher aren’t well-made you can have expensive repairs ahead of you. If you have to load with kid-gloves you will find yourself annoyed (trust me). A heavy-duty machine will be sturdy from the motor to the silverware tray, and that’s valuable when you are hoping to invest in an appliance that will be used daily for years to come.
This week my parents replaced their old Bosch with a new one and the installation tech from Lowes told them almost all Bosch owners he encountered chose to replace with yet another Bosch because they are very happy with the brand. I think that says a lot about a product! Is there a particular appliance you feel is worth every penny?
