1.DIY Spirit Jugs
This DIY Halloween idea is super easy AND will provide the perfect lighting to your door! You’ll only need four items for this craft:
- Clean gallon milk jugs (ask neighbors if you don’t have enough saved!)

2. Glitter Pumpkin Topiary
My favorite part of this craft is that you can use is again year after year! Even better, it requires minimal items! For this craft you’ll need:
- Black & orange glitter spray paint
- Wooden letters (BOO)
- Glue gun
- 3 Foam pumpkins
- Flower pot
- Orange ribbon – optional
First cut off two of the pumpkin’s stems. Then, simply spray paint your three pumpkins with glitter paint (alternate colors so one black and two orange or vice versa) and use your hot glue gun to glue them on top of each other. Next, spray paint your wooden letters (make them opposite of pumpkins) and hot glue them to the pumpkins. Place them in the flower pot and tie the ribbon in between each pumpkin. Go here for full directions.

These would be fun for a Halloween party or to add to your yard! To make these dramatic spider webs all you need are:
- Black Trash Bags

Basically you’ll make these in a similar way as paper snowflakes. First, take your trash bag and trim off the side and bottom seams. Cut, unfold, and hang! For a step-by-step picture tutorial head here.

These wine bottle are very easy to make and are perfect for a Halloween party! For these you’ll need:

- Painters Tape
- Paint Pens

These are really simple! Just spray paint your bottles (use painters tape to mark off hair for Frankenstein) and allow to dry. Use a paint pen to draw on your faces OR use glue/mod podge to draw faces and cover with glitter. Visit Lombardo Lagniappe for more detailed instructions.
7. Packing Tape Ghost
Looking for a more awe-inspiring decoration? This craft is a little more difficult (and spendy) than the others BUT it will have all the neighbors coming to your yard. For this craft you’ll need:
- 3 Rolls of packing tape
- Mannequin or human shaped figure
- Spotlight (optional)
To make, use large piece of packing tape (sticky side out) to wrap your form covering the whole torso. Then, make the torso using long vertical strips. Once the first sticky layer is completed go back over it with the sticky side in. Once it’s all covered, cut a slit up the back and remove from the form. Then, tape the slit back together. Hang in a tree or attack to a PVC pipe in your yard and place a spotlight on your ghost. Find full directions at The Crafty Geek.

Ok, what do you mean by stiffening spray? Starch?
Mara says
It’s similar to starch, but not as flaky. Here is an example. I’m pretty sure you can find it (or another brand) at Michaels or JoAnns.

how do you get the fabric not to stick to the doll when you remove the doll? and is it weather and rain proof?
Mara says
It shouldn’t stick to the doll because you’re just spraying the outside of the fabric. I don’t think it is rain/weather proof. I am pretty sure it would wash out. Probably best to keep it under a covered porch.
