Love this new study from Ebates about what Moms DON’T want for Mother’s Day, which is Sunday May 10th this year. My best Mother’s Day yet was when my husband and two other husbands made plans for a group of us to have brunch together. They planned everything, cooked everything, and cleaned everything. It was heavenly.
What Moms don’t want for Mother’s Day
- This year, mom is saying that she is fine with her body! Half of American moms admit that the gift they do not want to receive is a gym membership or personal trainer, the survey found. Other gifts Moms don’t want…
- A cook book or cooking classes (40 percent)
- Perfume (31 percent)
- Chocolates (25 percent)
- A tablet (25 percent each)
Is this what you want?
- Both men (65 percent) and women (60 percent) agree that the gift mom most wants is to spend time with her family. Especially if I don’t have to plan the outing! More gifts Moms want…
- A clean house (52 percent)
- A spa day (44 percent)
- A gift card to her favorite store (40 percent)
- Fine dining out (36 percent)
How much does mom want you to spend on her?
- Mom doesn’t expect you to break the bank this year, according to the survey. Some 35 percent say $20-$50 is the right amount.
- Men agree, with 35 percent revealing that they plan to spend between $20 and $50 on mom.
- More frugal moms say that their family should spend $20 or less (21 percent) or nothing at all (19 percent).
Whoa, big spender!
- 12 percent of dads plan to dish out between $100 and $250
- 6 percent will spend more than $250
- 3 percent of moms think their families should go overboard and spend more than $250

About the survey
This survey was conducted online within the United States by Insant.ly on behalf of Ebates from March 24-26, 2015 among 1,014 adults ages 18 and older. This online survey is not based on a probability sample and therefore no estimate of theoretical sampling error can be calculated.
Myke says
A lot of moms would really appreciate the family tackling the Honey-Do list. All those little (and some big) things that get on their nerves I.e.:
Oil squeaky hinges
Move furniture to clean behind and under
Clean the garage, service porch, gutters, closets
Clean flower beds and weed
Fix drippy faucets
Clean windows and mend screens
Fix something that’s broken
These jobs often get put off and a little work will go a long way to easing a lot of tension for mom. Just remember the old adage “If mom’s not happy, nobody’s happy”. Then you can all have a nice dinner and know that she won’t keep asking you for the same thing over and over again because it will have been done.
