This is a post by BargainBabe.com writer Yazmin Cruz.

Until recently, I’ve never worn makeup because of the cost, not to mention the challenge of finding the right product. This all changed when a sales associate at a makeup boutique gave me a lesson on scoring free makeup samples. I’ve since landed a handful of samples. Here’s how to get free makeup samples.

But first, here are four makeup products that you can score – for free.

Foundation – In a previous post by Bargain Babe, she spoke to a professional makeup artist who revealed she pays more (more…)

bargain babe bumper sticker1 300x90 Get a free I BRAKE FOR BARGAINS bumper stickerOkay, so I’m changing up the rules slightly on how I’m doling out the “I BRAKE FOR BARGAINS” bumper stickers. Mainly because I want the stickers to go to folks who really want them. So to get your sticker, leave a comment on this post AND email me an address where I can mail it to. Previously,  you just had to be on my email list. Make sure to mention the bumper sticker in the subject so I can keep track.

The first 150 folks to comment and email me get a bumper sticker!!! I plan to put one on my bumper as soon as it stops snowing. Got 3 inches yesterday and we expect another 4-8 today. The best part about the snow is watching my little dog, Darwin, bounce around in it. He gets his nose covered in flakes and it is just adorable.

This freebie is for email subscribers of BargainBabe.com!

boggle 300x199 Do you pay for apps?

therichbrooks/Flickr

Yesterday I parted with $.99 to download Boggle onto my iPhone, the second time I’ve ever paid for an app. Already, I’ve played Boggle for two hours, steadily increasing my scores from the low 20s to a high of 36.

I felt guilty about the purchase because there are sooo many free apps. On the other hand, I can afford $.99 for good, clean fun. And besides, the free knock-off version of Boggle stank.

I asked my Facebook friends if buying apps was frugal or cheap.

Jason said the purchase made me “Frugal, cheap would get getting someone else to get them for you.”

Jessica said “Discerning!”

Bonnie said “Frugal for sure, especially considering how many apps are available.:-)”

Eugene said “I’ve only ever paid for 2 myself: Colbert’s ‘the Word’ app, and This American Life. Considering I’ve barely ever used them, I doubt I’ll ever buy another!”

Bob said “…or….just not that into apps, … perhaps!”

Do you pay for apps? How many have you purchased?

PS. I plan to break into the 40-point zone soon!

dishwasher Reader needs tips on discount appliances

brownpau/Flickr

This question was brought to you by Online Boilers – the UK’s favourite boilers website. Specialists in combi boilers and gas boilers. Online Boilers often give their customers a discount on their appliances but you need to ring them and it takes a bit of haggling!

Reader gpjandra needs advice on where she can find discounted appliances.

What sites are available to search for bargains or discounts on appliances like stove/oven, refrigerator, washer and dryer, microwave, dishwasher, etc…? Thank you for your help as we are furnishing our first home. Need help in finding affordable, yet new appliances.

If you are tied to buying new appliances, you are more limited than if you’re open to buying used. I’d look out for sales at the hardware stores, and approach local hardware stores about price matching. You never know when someone might be able to make you a deal. You can often get 10% off for opening a new credit line, or may be able to approach a manager about a discount for paying in cash or buying in bulk (if you purchase multiple appliances from one store). Also look for steep discounts on floor models, which may have scratches or other minor blemishes.

Got advice for gpjandra? Got a question about saving money? Email me.
