It’s crazy that summer hasn’t even officially begun, because down in the Carolinas we’ve been having record high temps for weeks! It has already passed 100 degrees and we’ve been in shorts and flip flops seemingly for ages. Still, this week I decided to go through my entire closet, pack away my cold weather capsule, and create my warm weather capsule. Although I don’t tend to take a lot of selfies, I made an exception for this project. Seeing myself in the outfits helps me decide which I love and which might need improvement. Plus having the photos helps me remember my favorite formulas later. It also makes packing for vacations way easier, which is a bonus!
Getting everything organized and snapping the pics only took a couple of hours and now I know exactly what I have and how I can wear it. I also wanted to share exactly how much of my wardrobe is thrifted versus the few pieces that I purchased new. Don’t overlook thrift stores while shopping this summer; I really found some fabulous bargains this season!

My capsule may not be as neutral as most and there isn’t as much mixing and matching, however it’s very much “me” and totally satisfies my need for color and pattern! Plus each piece is comfortable and makes me smile, as well as being perfectly suited to the hot temps hitting over the next three months.

didnt know there was someone buying clothes the way i do – sometimes i embarrass myself with my nice outfits for such a low outlay. its surprising what people put in the thrift and charity shops. most of my outfits are under £20.00 for top, trousers, shoes and bag. i love that you have colour too – most capsule wardrobes are pretty boring. dont buy something just because it is cheap – it is a waste if it is lovely but you never wear it. – leave it for someone else. this september i have now started a frugal year – i am not buying anything that is not really essential to me – and hope to have some savings by next august.
