This is such a publicity stunt (call me jaded) but I watched the video and teared up! It is really sweet to think of all those neighbors putting others in front of themselves this time of year.
Totally worth a watch.
Here’s the story from the PR agency that represents RetailMeNot.com, which is, incidentally, still my favorite site for online coupons after Ebates.
Have you ever heard of Coupon, PA? Well the brand RetailMeNot loves helping people save money while shopping with digital coupons on their app, so when they heard there was a small town named Coupon in Pennsylvania, they knew they had to travel there to check it out.
This video shows how one tight knit, humble community in PA helped remind everyone that “it is better to give than to receive” this holiday season.
How it Worked: RetailMeNot had the intention of gifting each person in Coupon something on their holiday wish list, but each neighbor insisted on gifting their neighbor, family or friend instead.
So RetailMeNot set out to help them do just that. RetailMeNot invited each resident to a holiday gathering in town where neighbors were surprised with gifts ranging from a porch swing to hunting gear, electronics, refrigerators, bikes, toys and even a trip to Disney – all suggested ideas from neighbors in town. RetailMeNot and Coupon paid it forward together.
