A reader recently suggested we share our favorite thrift store shopping blogs so I rounded up my top favorites. I like to read these blogs for inexpensive home decor and frugal fashion inspiration — in addition to Bargain Babe, of course! New to thrifting? Check out our 15 thrift store shopping tips. Plus, find out why Julia felt guilty about shopping at thrift stores.
Here are 5 thrift shopping blogs you must check out.
Centsational Girl – Katie is a bargain hunter, design lover, and DIY-er. She believes in being fabulous for less. She blogs about furniture makeovers, craft projects, home and holiday decorating, home improvement, and more! Katie shares her knowledge of shopping thrift stores, flea markets, and antique stores. This gal lives in Northern California, but you won’t feel lost if you don’t live nearby. Katie has been featured on the Nate Berkus Show (anyone else disappointed his show was cancelled?), and has a column in Better Homes & Gardens.
Looking Fly On A Dime – Your wallet doesn’t have to determine your style. Patrice, a New York City-based writer will teach you how not to sacrifice fashionable choices no matter what your budget. This site embraces all things thrifty including trends for less, budget beauty, and more! You may recognize Patrice from The Today Show or Nate Berkus Show. She was on these and other shows proving she can put together head to toe looks for less than $10! Patrice also has a Shop My Closet section in her blog.
Thrifty and Chic – If you believe you can turn a place into a home no matter what your budget, you must check out Alicia’s blog. She shares practical and fun ideas to transform your place. You’ll love this blog if you are a diehard DIY-er. I love that she gives her readers a glimpse of her home. It looks so beautiful and expensive, but you won’t believe how little she spent. She provides a step by step guide on how to transform furniture from thrift stores.
Thrift and Shout – I’m envious of Lindsey’s sense of style. She rocks fashionable clothes purchased at thrift shops. She shares her outfits and breaks down the cost of everything. She looks like a million bucks though she didn’t spend anywhere near that. Con: She has a section in her blog where you can shop her closet. This just may be too tempting for those on a budget!
This Mama Makes Stuff – Written by a mom who used to design clothes for Old Navy when she lived in New York. Now an Orange County mama, Carrie blogs about her love of thrifting. This is not just another craft blog reads the blog’s tagline, and it’s true. This Mama refashions clothes, sews, shares tutorials, and gives back! She also shares her favorite thrift stores in Southern California. This is a nice source of inspiration even if you’re not in the OC.

I don’t read the blogs, because I don’t really need anything else. However, I have friends who wouldn’t miss going to the Salvation Army Family Store in Van Nuys on the last Friday of every month to try and score special bargains. They always manage to find some treasures.

You might find this E-book called “What to Look For at Thrift Stores” valuable. It’s a very valuable list of high-end clothiers, shoemakers, fashion houses and designers. I thought I knew a lot until I read this. It’ll help you find and identify luxury brands and goods. What a find! It’s available on Kindle. Worth 10 times the cost on your first visit.

Having a retail establishment such as a thrift shop, or running a charitable organization to raise money expresses a great social cause work. selling of mainly used goods such as clothing, books, music albums, home videos, and furniture donated by members of the public requires a whole lot of research to be done. This article provides blogs of such content & intent which in turn is a great help for starters. Thanks for posting it!

Like all thrift stores, they’re going to be hit or miss. If you’re looking for something specific you need to get lucky. However, I tend to agree with you about Poland Goodwill. Each day at all Thrift Stores, they have sales to keep their clothes (items) moving and keep customers happy. Also, in this store the largest inventory of top quality items. Find everything you need under one roof! But I have one question can you help me regarding this-What are the best thrift stores or other shopping destinations in your city for a midi dress for a cocktail party?
