The web is bursting with free tutorials and free educational videos (some of which are surprisingly entertaining). Just the other day, I learned how to prune my roses, roll a burrito, and make homemade Nutella.
For homeschoolers or parents who want to avoid hiring expensive tutors, online videos are an incredible FREE resource. There are literally thousands of videos out there and lots of free online learning sites.
Here are my seven favorite sources of free educational science videos.
- Sick Science! – Perhaps my favorite site. Short videos that show really cool science experiments you can do. Great videos for younger kids that are going to have adult supervision. The Color Changing Milk video is lots of fun. Almost all the videos make you say “That was sick!” (sick = cool, neat, rad, awesome).
- NASA – All things space and aeronautics. For the future JPL (Jet Propulsion Lab) rocket scientist. This is the site that houses the latest videos on the Mars Curiosity Rover.
- Periodic Table of Videos– This channel (from the University of Nottingham) has videos having to do with the various elements that make up the periodic chart of elements and how the elements react to each other. Lots of visuals on the very best parts of chemistry lab. I like the slow motion videos the best. Geared towards older kids.
- HooplaKidz – This is the site for the toddler and preschool set. Full of videos about colors, numbers, animals, etc.
- Edutopia – This is The George Lucas Foundation education site. Edutopia is geared more to the teacher than to the student. The site is much drier and more technical than the other sites.
- YouTube Space Lab – A more kid friendly space site. The Story of the YouTube Space Lab explains it all.
- Crash Course – This channel is run by two brothers, one who makes Chemistry videos. (The other covers Literature). The videos are spunky, funny, and really engaging.
What can you learn from these seven science channels? Make sure to watch along with your kid so you can discuss words and concepts they might not be familiar with.

@N. Davis Thanks for sharing the Nova link! I’ve been watching a little PBS – I really liked the Midwives series they did. It’s amazing how much educational TV is available free!

PBS programming is awesome! I’ve learned so much just from watching documentaries and various programs, and being able to watch them at my convenience online for free is even better! (I definitely plan to make a donation, though. They have certainly earned my money!) I was bummed that I wasn’t able to watch “Makers: Women Who Make America” the other night, but I just checked and luckily it’s already up on the PBS website. PBS for the win!

Actually, I know what you meant, because betting on sports really does contribute to life. Anyway, I like sports and once made a solid decision to monetize it as well. Likewise, there are numerous sources where we could do this, but I would like to mention this site https://www.mightytips.com/bookmakers/hungary-betting-sites/ where you can definitely read reviews about betting resources. I think a lot of people want to try.
