This is a guest post from Mike of 10 Cents Worth.

Picture this if you will. It’s Friday night, you’ve just gotten a paycheck from work. You’re overjoyed! You have money! The world is your oyster!! Then you realize that your check pretty much entirely goes to your cell phone bill, your utilities, rent, groceries for the week and and any other payments that you need to be making. Suddenly that joyous feeling has been trumped by a feeling of despair, as you’ve now got a measly hundred bucks left to your name to last you the next two weeks for food, gas, and “fun.”

Have I sufficiently depressed you enough?

So what exactly do you do? You have a wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend, or just a group of friends; all of which want to go out and be active! It doesn’t matter what age you are, we all like to DO something. Entertain ourselves if you will.

I’m gonna do an on-going blog series entitled “How to be a broke-ass.” (You can probably see that via the title above.) In this series, anytime I come across something that’s cheap, or free to do, I’ll make sure I post it here for all you lovely people who read this. That way, we can all be clued in on how to have fun, and still be broke.

Yes, I realize those two words don’t typically go together.

So what qualifies me to make such bold recommendations? Why should you listen to me, and trust that by putting your “fun” quota in my hands I won’t just squander it away?

1.) I’ve been living paycheck to paycheck for about three years now. I don’t say that to brag, I’m trying to work out of that right now actually, because debt, and not having a savings sucks my left nut.

2.) For the past three months specifically, I’ve had little to no income (due to extenuating circumstances/decisions) and had to figure out how to be sane.

So. All that being said, Dr. Broke-Ass is now in the office.

Pay attention children.
