I saved $49.38 at Old Navy's Stuff & Save sale.

This past weekend my sister and I headed to the mall in search of a graduation dress for her and a couple of gifts. We ended up at Old Navy where we found an adorable dress. Although I’m reluctant to use retail credit cards because of their high interest rates, I was delighted to score a discount when I charged my Old Navy card.
I intended to pay with cash but the sales associate asked if I wanted to save 20% on my purchase.
“Oh, I already have an Old Navy card,” I responded. I didn’t know they were having their Stuff & Save promotion were you get 20% off of anything you can stuff into an adorable reusable bag.
“If you charge this purchase, you’ll get the discount.”
“Really?”
Did you know you can use an Old Navy gift card at Gap online? And a Banana Republic gift card at Piperlime or Athleta? All five retailers are owned by the same company and gift cards to the Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Piperlime, and Athleta are interchangeable online. I had no idea!
This makes these gift cards more valuable because you have more options to spend them. The five retailer sites are linked and offer $7 flat shipping when you shop online at one or more of the sites.
This morning I used the last $12.64 on my Old Navy gift card to buy a pair of Athleta yoga shorts, which were on sale for $29.99 (orig. $44). With the gift card and a free shipping Athleta coupon code, WELCOME, I paid just $17.35. Score!
Does anyone know if these gift cards are interchangeable in stores – or is it just online?
Caveats: coupon code WELCOME expires July 1, 2010.
