I’m a pajama junkie. I can never have enough pajamas. Which is why I’m excited about this giveaway. Land’s End has soooo many pj options, including matching family pjs. And the suede moc slippers come in hot colors like purple, hot pink, and red. Nice!
Today we are launching a giveaway for a $100 Lands’ End gift card.
Don’t forget to enter to win the $500 back to school savings spree with $250 gift cards donated by Sears AND Kmart, which I’m working with on this giveaway.
To recap, here is what’s on the “must have” list for back to school shopping at Sears and Kmart.
- Sears – Some of the best clothing deals are on BONGO, American Star, and US Polo Assn. I saw stylish BONGO tops and graphic tees for $10-$18, American Star vests for $23 (vests are back in style), and polos for $15-$20.
- Kmart – The back to school 2011 gear at Kmart spans everything from school supplies, to backpacks, lunchboxes, gadgets, and dorm decor. I saw notebooks, pens, and binders – school supplies that I didn’t even know Kmart sold! Dozens of backpacks and totes are $10-$30, though most fall in the $13-$20 range. There was a wide selection of laptops, netbooks, tablets and desktops, plus memory sticks and ereaders. Dorm decor included the practical (sheets, bedding) to the personal (bean bags and lava lamps). Should your kid need paper plates, baggies, and plastic utensils, Kmart’s Smart Sense line has you covered. Is it me or has Kmart thought of everything?

No idea why I did not register for discounted gift card alerts until now. Buying gift cards online at a steep discount – up to 30% off the face value – is a quick and easy way to save. Combine coupons with a gift card you bought on sale and – WHAM! – huge savings. With a discounted gift card, I can easily bump up my over all savings to 50% off. Here’s what I did.
1. Register at Plastic Jungle, Gift Card Rescue or another site that sells (and often buys) gift cards at a discount. Both PJ and GCR guarantee the transactions, though it’s savvy to read the fine print so you know the refund process is if something goes wrong. I prefer Plastic Jungle because it has a bigger selection of cards than Gift Card Rescue, and also because I’m an affiliate so I earn a small commission if others use my link.
2. Set up email alerts for retailers you regularly shop at. I signed up for

These RSVP postcards are mailed - free!
Don’t forget to comment, Tweet, and share a Facebook update to be eligible to win a $100 Visa gift card from WhitePages.com. The giveaway celebrates WhitePages Neighbors, a new free tool that makes it easy to organize parties with neighbors (and get to know those closest to you). This video explains it better than I can.
To win, comment on this post about a time when you relied on your neighbors. Get extra entries by:
- Tweeting “I want to win a $100 Visa gift card on @bargainbabe to throw a @whitepages Neighbors Block Party. http://bit.ly/ort5dc”
- Mentioning the contest on Facebook with a link to http://bit.ly/ort5dc

I’ve written before about how to get free or discounted gift cards. Now, I want to share some awesome gift cards deals that come with perks.
Some of these promotions are ongoing while some are tied to promotions for Father’s Day and graduation season so make sure to call ahead to find out if the promotion has not been discontinued in your area.
- Chili’s – The restaurant is offering 10% off gift cards of $100 or more as part of their dads and grads promotion.
- Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf – This is one of my favorite coffee shops and I’ve written before about how swiping my credit card to pay for my caffeine addiction cost me a bundle. To stay on budget with my coffee purchases I bought a gift card and got a free drink. You can too! Purchase a $25 gift card at Coffee Bean and get a free drink. It’s unclear how long this will last.
- Starbucks – If you are a Starbucks aficionado, then this is the gift card for you. (more…)
This post is brought to you by familyFinds.com, a hot new deal site in Los Angeles.

Readers had mixed feeling about whether or not I should use a $20 Target gift card that requires me to set up a wedding registry (I’m not engaged), but ultimately provided an ethical solution.
Laura’s perspective is that I’d be earning the money. “I would use it. You did go through the trouble of opening the mail, reading the exclusions, etc. Besides, if you are willing to go through the hassle of using the registry, I say go for it.”
Evie, who is boycotting Target, said even if she did patronize the store it wouldn’t be worth her time. “Since I wont shop at Target, if I got something like that it the mail, it would go in the trash. Besides, I dont think it would be worth the time to set up a registry.”

I received a coupon for a $20 Target gift card yesterday with one big hitch. It is only valid if I create a Target wedding registry with at least 10 items on it. I’m not entirely sure how I got on a list of future brides (I’m not engaged) but I do sign up for a lot of stuff to test out deals for work.
Now that I have the coupon for a $20 Target gift card, I’m tempted to use it. The offer expires Oct. 24, 2010 so I don’t have long to decide. I’m leaning towards doing the right thing – recycling it or sending it to a friend who got engaged three weeks ago.
On the other hand, no where on the coupon does it say I have to be engaged. And there are plenty of registry-esque items I’d like to buy, including storage shelves for the attic and basement, sheets, and an electric griddle for pancakes. (I can never get them right in a regular frying pan.)
Is the fact that Target sent me the coupon enough to justify my use of it? Target could have vetted me (and other recipients) more carefully to weed out folks who are not actually betrothed.
How would you interpret the rules on the back of the coupon, which read:
Limit one coupon or offer per transaction. Void if copied, scanned, transferred, purchased, sold or prohibited by law. GiftCards and tax will not be included in determining purchase total. Free GiftCard not valid as payment on this purchase. Terms and conditions apply to GiftCards. Maximum retail value $20 for free GiftCard. No cash value. To redeem: take this coupon and a printout of your registry to Guest Service and any Target store. (emphasis theirs)
The top three winners in my recent gift card giveaway all emailed me back claiming their prizes. Better luck next time to the runners up and everyone else who reads BargainBabe.com. The winners are:
First place jenncf@ who won a $25 Amazon gift card
Second place mariedimacali@ who won a $25 Marshalls gift card
Third place dldevineol@ who won a $25 TJ Maxx gift card
Stay tuned for another giveaway next month.
I’m excited to announce another fabulous giveaway – this time a $100 CVS gift card! I partnered with Friendgiftr, where you can buy swappable gift cards, for this giveaway. If the recipient doesn’t like the retailer you picked, he or she can swap it for another retailer.
To be eligible to win, sign up for my daily e-newsletter(Mon-Fri). If you are on my weekly list or read BargainBabe.com through RSS, you are not eligible to win. I’m reserving this prize for BargainBabe.com most loyal readers.

Good luck and thanks for reading BargainBabe.com!
