The Unethical Man strikes again! He really seems to have these food deals down pat. Here’s his latest score:
I got off work early today. I used 3 Del Taco coupons to get 6 different items for a grand total of only $1.59 (a $2.67 savings), again. I then went to see the matinee showing of Real Steel in iMax. This was an $11 value that I got for free due
to the voucher I won online from Moviefone.com. In addition, last night, AMC sent me an email with a link to a coupon good for a free 20oz Icee, so I redeemed that. I don’t know what the value of the Icee was because the 32oz was $5.25, so I’m going to guess that 20oz would’ve been around $4.After the movie, I went to the Macaroni Grill to get a 2 lunch item combo for free. I printed a special coupon good for one free lunch valid only today and only from 11am – 4pm. My server was very nice, and I was served right away. The food was excellent and the buttery bread loaf was amazing. Since I had ice water with my meal, the bill was $0.00. Of course, I left a tip, so it wasn’t totally free to me. But the lunch, valued at $8.50, was a most excellent deal. So I got approximately $26.17 worth of free/discounted stuff today.I also have a coupon good for a free single scoop at Ben & Jerry’s, but I’m going to have to wait until Saturday or Sunday to redeem it. I’m too stuffed and off to take a well deserved nap.
Are you good at finding food deals? What are your tricks?
Sure these deals are great and all, but SO not healthy!!! Del Taco? A sugar loaded Icee? I’m glad he’s waiting on the Ben & Jerry’s. Why is it that all the best deals out there are for junk? It’s hard enough to try to eat right (lean meats & produce are expensive) but then they dangle these good “deals” in our face!? We may not be splurging from our wallets but we are splurging on our health! 🙁
@Heather Rene A, I agree with you on the fact that Unethical Man has a terrible diet! Who eats like that and doesn’t get diabetes, heart disease, or other major health concerns?
But I disagree with you that eating right and healthy has to be expensive.
At a regular grocery store, many items give dollars-back coupons that can be used to discount the cost of produce and good proteins.
If you are open to stores like Trader Joes (which accepts coupons!), Whole Foods, natural food stores, and bulk food stores, you can also save money on healthier food products. Since I’ve had to go gluten-free (allergies), I’ve not spent more than when I used to buy the processed/unhealthy foods that I can’t have, and yet I’ve had to buy things like xanthan gum (which is $13 for less than a pound!).
I am a big fan of http://healthylifedeals.blogspot.com – she posts deals for items that are healthy, many organics, etc. including Whole Foods shopping tips (did you know you can buy cases there?).
If BB wants to post good deals, Jen’s post on saving her brother 99% would be a much healthier post! http://www.healthylifedeals.com/2011/10/whole-foods-market-shopping-trip-my.html

Even though that has some junk (popcorn and breakfast bars), its still an overwhelmingly healthy cart for a very small amount!
good job Unethical Man!
@ Heather Rene A ~ I totally agree with you. You said more nicely what I think each time I read one of Unethical Man’s “reports.” It is not frugal to jeopardize health, now or in the future, in terms of the cost of medical insurance and medical bills. I love a bargain and I love to eat, but I subscribe to “calories in, calories out” and work it off!
I’m going to shut up now but will bet that someone is going to take offense at our comments.
Besides the Macaroni Grill, I agree with the opinions of the two ladies above me : ) . A free meal there would be worth it, but that fast food stuff has got to go…..
How was Unethical Man able to use 3 Del Taco coupons at one visit? My current Del Taco coupon specifies: Not valid with any other offer, discount, or coupon.
