Do I buy a Christmas gift for my in-laws? Background. My husband died almost 4 years ago. I was never close to his parents & they knew the marriage was rocky. The last time we spoke was in July of this year when I called them, and it was amicable. Since that time, both their grandson & I have had birthdays and heard nothing from them. My father in law also has had a birthday since July, but we didn’t call him either. I’ve been engaged for over a year, and when they learned of my engagement, they stopped calling to see how their grandson & I were doing. I’ve given them xmas gift the past 4 years and they me, but I’m wondering if I should this year. I’d be perfectly happy not to continue the gift giving, but I want to do the right thing. Thanks in advance Bargain Babe for your thoughts.
@Pam The answer depends on what you’d like your relationship with your in-laws to be moving forward. If you want them to be an active part of your and your son’s life, then send a card and gift.
If you see the relationship waning, still send a card. Just because you’re engaged doesn’t change the fact that they are your son’s grandparents. They could be waiting for a signal from you for fear of intruding on your new romance.
If you’re still unsure, call them and ask if they would like to exchange gifts this year. It’s possible to stay in touch and not exchange gifts. In other words, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing at all.
Trying to find “Chef Tony” knives or Miracle Blade knives for a reasonable price (maybe no more than $20?)
@MAGGI I did a quick search on Amazon and found an 11-piece Miracle Blade knives for $19.95. Bigger sets cost more.
