A loyal reader named Eve turned me onto two coupon sites that she says have saved her bundles. One is called CouponsandForms.com. The site does not sell coupons – but charges a handling fee for each coupon you order. You must order $5 worth of coupons per order. Eve says she may pay $.08 for a $1 off coupon, which puts her ahead. Read more about how the site works.
TheCouponMaster also charges a small handling fee for coupons. When I visited the site I saw coupons for $.08 to $.50. The company also offers a $10 online class about maximizing coupon clipping. When you finish you get a $5 credit towards coupons on the site!
Both sites are very similar, but Coupon Master was easier on the eyes and was easier to navigate.
I’m curious to try buying coupons as I get out of the habit of clipping coupons. I’ll do it obsessively for a month and then slack off. Shhhh…don’t tell anyone. I’m much better at tracking prices and buying my favorite items on super sale, like I did today during Albertsons 8-hour sale (deodorant sticks $1 each, 1lb boxes of pasta $1 each, Corn Flakes for $1.50 a box and chocolate chips for $1.50 a bag). I saved more than 100% of my bill because of mark downs! But I only had two coupons, which seems woefully inadequate.
To Eve and anyone else who has used this type of service, please chime in with your thoughts! Is it worth it to pay for coupons?
Seems a little counter productive to pay to receive coupons. Pay me so you can save money? Pass.
Why not save the .08 cents and wait for the Sunday paper or Wednesday inserts? I wouldn’t pay for a coupon….Someone else is still making money off your need….don’t care for that!
It does seem silly to pay for coupons – but I think I’m going to try it anyway. If I end up paying $.08 for a $1 off coupon that I use, I still come out ahead assuming it does not take super long to order the coupons.
you pay for the coupons that come in the sunday paper, too. the paper isn’t free. if you get the paper anyway to read, ok. but if you just buy the sunday edition (or subscribe for weekend edition) just for coupons, realize you are paying for your coupons. and you only get the coupons that come in the paper; so, you may only use a few coupons each week from the paper.
i don’t use a coupon website, but it may come out ahead since you only pay for coupons you want instead of paying for the sunday paper and hoping there will be coupons for things you use.
Good pint, nolemon. I recently stopped subscribing to my local paper, even though I like the coupons. Now I get the coupon inserts in the mail – but not regularly, the only drawback.
The best and easiest site is http://www.thegrocerygame.com. Teri Gault has perfected a system which really works! I have reduced my grocery bill down to $25 per person per week.
The grocery game charges monthly for each store you want the list for. For me the best site has been couponmom.com which is free because she wants people to get cheap or free things to give to charities.
As you know, I use the two sites that you put here! For me, I would rather shell out a few cents for coupons that I know I am going to use. I also get the Sunday paper, but there are times when I only get one or two coupons that I really want.
The Grocery Game is something I partake in as well. Between the coupons and sales I save anywhere between 38% and 52% each week on my grocery bill.
I will share the best coupon that I have gotten. I use quite a few perscriptions and one of the coupons that I found offered was $20 off of my diabetes meter strips. The coupon was twenty cents and was well worth the price. My co-pay from my insurance is $40. This cut it completely in half. Nothing is better than that.
