I’m in the habit of stocking up on bras and undies after Christmas when prices are reduced, but this year I’m hitting the lingerie sales. Below I share my tips to saving money on this basic necessity.
But first, did you know June is another time to score deals on lingerie? Many retailers like Victoria’s Secret have their semi-annual sales during this month so scoring deals can be easy as retailers compete to get you in the door!
Get fitted. Bras that do not fit well will not get used and you’ll end up wasting money. Knowing your right size comes in handy when you want to shop online! Watch the video below to learn how to get your right size.
Go for comfort. For me, comfort trumps cuteness. The scratchy lace and skin-digging underwire bras only end up in the back of my underwear drawer. Note that bras must feel comfortable on the first hook when you first wear it. When it stretches, switch to the second set of hooks till it stretches further.
Quantity counts. Having several pairs of bras is helpful as you can extend the life of a bra by giving it a day of rest. Ideally, you should have a white bra, black bra, and skin-tone bra. These will work no matter what you wear. Several pairs of undies are also a must.
Buy multipurpose. Owning a convertible bra that can offer many different styles for the same price can save you money.
Shop online. Once you’ve been properly fitted, ordering online will be easier and you’ll be able to take advantage of great deals.
Proper care. Hand wash items if you can (the extra trouble will yield great savings) or at least wash them on delicate and line dry. Make sure not to dry undies for long as this can scorch the waist band. Follow garment instructions.
Shop the sales. Depending on your size, you may really clean up at some of the semi-annual sales. You have to arrive extra early and dig through cardboard boxes, but it pays off.
