I’m working on a few posts about ways to vacation this summer on a low budget. I’m interested in hearing stories and getting tips about how you are taking a vacation for less. Got staycation plans? Going to blow a wad despite the recession? What are your plans for downtime this summer?
Thanks for your input!

Last year, my sister, mom and I and my sisters girls went to the beach for four days. It was THE BEST! But this year we may opt to “stay-vacation” at my sisters house in GA. I would drive from VA to NC -pick up mom- and then drive to GA. My sister has a pool in her development so that takes care of the requisite “water”!
Fun can be had anywhere. It’s not the place you GO TO but the PEOPLE YOU ARE WITH!
GO bargain babe- love your site!
I second that! Vacations are about the people first, the setting second. There are many far-flung places I’d like to go, but I’ve also had fantastic trips that are everything but exotic.
I’m planning on road tripping to a national park or two and doing a lot of camping. Overall, it will be relatively cheap. Once you have all the camping gear the only major costs involved are gas and park fees for the campsite.
Of course if you don’t like the outdoors than this is probably a bad vacation choice for you.
I love the great outdoors – I’m going camping this weekend, in fact! I’ve heard that certain parks are free – you just have to get a permit to camp. I’ll check with my friend who knows.
Doesn’t it take up a lot of time to keep your blog so interesting ?
