It’s hard keeping resolutions, but no matter what goals you’ve set for yourself this year, check out these free iPhone apps to help you lose weight, save money, get organized and quit smoking. Not an iPhone or iTouch user? No problem. Most of these apps have free websites you can use.
Take control of your finances
Mint — Keep track of all your accounts with a touch of an app. You can create a budget and manage your money on the go. You will need to create an account, but don’t worry it’s free. I have this app and like that I can keep tabs of all my money accounts on-the-go and online.
Bank apps — Many banks have a free app so you can bank wherever and whenever. Most of them can be secured with a passcode so you won’t be putting yourself in jeopardy if you lose your phone. If you haven’t already, check out your bank’s app. Many banks offer online banking for free, which is nice to schedule payments and make transactions. My bank app has helped me save money by allowing me to automatically deduct and transfer money to my saving account.
SmallSpend – A basic free app that lets you budget and track expenses very simply. For some folks, this app may be too simple.
Get in shape
Lose it — This app allows you to easily keep track of the foods you eat. I’ve used this app and the only thing I don’t like is that some food is not listed and you’ll have to add it and keep track of the calories you’ve consumed. Experts say that if you track what you eat, you won’t eat as much. You can also track the amount of calories you burn. You can input your goals and it will create a plan for you. Don’t have a gym membership? No problem. Get a fit body on a budget.
DailyBurn — Turn your iPhone into a personal trainer. This free app provides workouts to subscribe to, sends you daily updates and workout goals. It tracks and graphs your progress, and syncs with your online account. The app counts calories and lets you search exercises and food items.
Get organized
Evernote — Stay in sync between your computer, online and your phone. This app helps you remember everything by allowing you to make text, photo and audio notes. I like using this app to jot down post ideas and add items to my grocery list. For a fee you can add, sync, access and share files.
Save money
Coupon Sherpa — Ditch printing coupons with this app, which shares a bunch of great money-saving coupons, just like the eponymous website. The app uses the geo-location capabilities of the iPhone to locate deals near you so you can save money on clothes, restaurants, electronics and much more.
Coupons.com — Take advantage of all the benefits of Coupons.com from your phone. You can save the brands you like most and save coupons to print out later when you get to a computer.
Quit smoking
Quitter — Although there is no accompanying website with this app, it is well worth the mention because not only does it help you monitor your smoke-free behavior, but it tallies up your monetary savings when you quit smoking. This app serves as a pocket-sized reminder and lets you view your progress to keep you motivated.
Great list Yazmin! I also want your readers to know about the Shoeboxed.com iPhone apps which are both free to download and try out. First is the Receipt Tracker app that allows you to capture paper receipts on the go and create email expense reports right from the phone. Second is our Business Card Scanner app that let’s you snap photos of business cards and have the contact information extracted and entered into your phone or your favorite CRM through the Shoeboxed.com web application.
You can also send in photos of receipts and cards from any mobile device using Shoeboxed Mobile, which comes with all Shoeboxed.com accounts.
Both apps are available for free in the iTunes store.

SparkPeople has a free app and website – they are an amazing company who offers free nutrition tracking, fitness tracking and comprehensive support for weight loss or general fitness.
I have been using My Fitness Pal for several weeks. You record items for each meal and there are a huge number of items already entered into the database, so for most food entries you just have to find the correct one to add. Also, keeps track of exercise, water, and you track weight and or measurements. I am finding it very useful to keep track and making choices based on calorie info.
For finances I am using Mind Your Money. I just wanted something to keep track of cash going out daily. It is okay for that but not extensive budgeting.
