Want to get addicted to exercise? Get yourself the Fitbit One fitness tracker that syncs wirelessly to your smart phone and tells you how many steps you’ve taken, flights of stairs you’ve climbed, how many calories you’ve burned, and how long and well you slept. I check mine as many times a day as my obsessive compulsive brain wants!
Here’s how this fantastic fitness and sleep tracker motivates me.
Straight out of the box the FitBit One was easy-peasy to use. I set up a free account on FitBit.com and followed the instructions to link my device to my account and iPhone. In minutes I was up and running, literally, to see if it worked. Sure enough, it worked great. What I didn’t anticipate was how well the Fitbit One it would motivate me to exercise.
I’ve been known to pace the hallway at night if I’m close to reaching my next FitBit One badge. I linked my FitBit account to my friends’ accounts for some healthy competition and motivation. You can also sync your FitBit to your Walgreens Balance Rewards account to earn 20 points for every mile you walk and 20 points for tracking your weight. Hello sweet sweaty savings!

FitBit has a great mobile and online dashboard that is color coded to show you at a glance how close you are to reaching your goals. There are also sections within the app to record what you’ve eaten in order to track your calories, how much water you’ve consumed and your weight.
If you’re already routinely using another weight loss/food tracking app like MyFitnessPal, LoseIt!, etc. you can sync your FitBit to many of those types of apps to track your activity.

The device itself allows you to scroll through a digital display by pressing the button to see time, steps, floors, miles, calories, and a flower that grows as your activity increases. I love the gentle vibrating alarm you set via the app or website. It’s great for not waking up your partner or kids should they find themselves in your bed occasionally during thunder storms like mine do.
Some other FitBit One reviews have mentioned that the clips are loose and can fall off easily. I have not found that to be true for me. I wear mine attached to the shoulder strap on my bra and I’ve never had it fall off in 2 months of using it daily.
The Fitbit One holds its charge for about a week. It is splash proof and sweat proof, but does not say waterproof (a downside in my opinion since I swim regularly.) You can manually add in activity like swimming through the app or website, but it would be nice if it tracked it automatically.
Would I recommend a Fitbit One to a friend? Absolutely! Although I’d love to have it track my swimming, I have found the FitBit motivates me to compete with myself and friends resulting in more activity each day. It’s fun to see my progress, earn the badges and Walgreens rewards for being healthy! You should totally buy the FitBit One so we can link accounts and cheer each other on!
