I couldn’t help myself, even though watching these clips of Extreme Couponing makes me feel guilty. In this clip, a couponer named Treasure (how appropriate) runs into a big snag when a store rep tells her she interpreted the store’s coupon policy incorrectly. Are grocery stores no longer welcome of extreme coupon clippers???

DO you feel guilty because you don’t get stuff for free or that she is feeding her kid garbage?
@Dan I feel guilty that I’m not using as many coupons as these dedicated clippers. They also spend HOURS planning each trip, which I am not willing to do. I wax on about my guilt at http://bargainbabe.com/2011/05/12/guilt-over-extreme-couponing-tv-show/
i don’t get the news paper, get a few magazines. ink can make it expensive to print coupons. how do they get all their coupons?
That’s what I want to know, Diane. Some have like 100 of the same coupon!!!! I understand that some go dumpster diving, some collect from their neighbors, some purchase a ton of Sunday papers. It just seems like a lot of work. A lot, a lot of work. The show always seems to gloss over the details part. They show their stockpile, slightly breeze over their coupon piles/binders/etc., sometimes review for a second on how they get the coupons and then show them sweeping the shelves and getting anxious upon check out. We need DETAILS, People!
@Julie B and @Diane It is likely that the extreme couponers are buying coupons online. See how this works at http://bargainbabe.com/2010/01/08/buying-and-trading-coupons/
It’s also likely they are trading coupons with others, buying lots of newspapers for the Sunday coupons, and receiving donations from friends who know they want coupons. It is a lot of work to acquire and organize that many coupons, matching them with the grocery deals each week. But it is very possible. Many sites publish which coupons match with the sales (“coupon matches”) each week. I link to the grocery matches every Wednesday and the drugstore matches on Mondays so you don’t have to do the matching work yourself!
This is what I do. I buy multiple papers, print some online and my mom sends me leftover coupon inserts from her job. She works for a newspaper and they are allowed to take the inserts but only after all Sunday prints have been distributed.
If you don’t have a paper subscription go to the store and buy them. Make sure you check it first to make sure the coupons are there. People do take them out.
My grocery store no longer doubles or triple coupons since this show started. I noticed a lot of the episodes were do at my stores company. Make sure to check the policies also.
