Found this story on the best beauty buys in the July 2011 issue of ShopSmart mag, published by Consumer Reports. The mag’s secret shoppers tested 38 popular makeup products and came up with 25 deals. The mag found the retailers with the best prices were HarmonDiscount.com, Walmart, and Target. Drugstore.com showed up on the price winners and loser list?! Other losers included CVS, Walgreens, and Ulta.com. If you want to score free makeup samples, it’s easy. So is making homemade makeup remover.

Love lipstick tips!
@Dolores Stephenson Glad you love the tips!!! I can never seem to find a shade of lipstick that flatters me.
ELF make-up is super cheap and works really great! I’m so addicted to their website, where they have tons of stuff for only $1.00!

I usually look for travel size products, use a coupon to purchase them and you can get the items for practically nothing. Plus so many beauty products you can get totally free when you look on http://tiny.cc/46aud
another quick tip… run down to the Santee alley in downtown LA. They are selling real MAC on everycorner for dirt cheap. Foundation is less than $10, Shadows are $5 each or $10 for sets of 12, and much more. if you buy multiple items, they will bargain with you a lot. The eye shadows are amazing!!!
@mandy If only I still lived in LA! I never knew that Santee Alley and LA’s Fashion District had makeup sellers. I do need new eyeshadow…when I put it on my eyes get irritated.
Thanks for your tips on lipstick. They were super
