Don’t forget to enter our contest to win one of two $25 gift cards to Macy’s. Coinstar donated both gift cards as part of our post on their new Exchange kiosks, where you can trade in an unwanted gift card for CASH. Yes, cash, ladies! We made a fun video featuring Madi2theMax to let you know what Exchange kiosks can do for you!

How Coinstar Exchanges work
- Plug in your gift cards and you’ll get an offer for 60-85% of the value of the card.
- If you accept the offer, you’ll get a voucher that you can exchange for cash immediately.
- Kiosks accept gift cards from nearly 150 retailers.
- The new kiosks are bright yellow (the original ones are green).
- Find a yellow Exchange kiosk in these cities – and the corresponding grocery store.

To help prevent fraud, the kiosk reads your drivers license and prints your ID number on the voucher. When you take the voucher to the counter to redeem the cash, the store employee will also check your ID to make sure that you are the rightful owner of the voucher. No need to enter your social, and the information is always secure.
My take on Coinstar Exchange
Getting 60-85% of the value of a gift card is not ideal, however, if you are never going to use a gift card, and you can’t re-gift it, why not get cash for it? What I like about the Exchange kiosks is that you can avoid creating an account on a gift card buy/sell site (like Cardpool.com), you can avoid sending your unwanted gift cards in, waiting for them to be verified, and then waiting to get paid. It’s quick and easy!
If you dump your change into a regular Coinstar machine (the green ones) you can get 100% of your money back as a gift card. There are DOZENS of stores to choose from, including grocery stores and Amazon. That’s as close to cash as you’re going to get – for free!

I’ve got approximately 60 — and utterly on purpose! I buy discounted gift cards to pay for everyday items like haircuts, movies, drugstore purchases and treating my nephews to McDonald’s.
Normally I don’t have this many; however, my favorite movie chain had a big sale and these cards aren’t usually available, so I bought a whole bunch. Now I’m set for quite some time.

I have about a handful of gift cards lying around for various stores that I always plan to visit but never seem to get around to doing.
I have SO MANY…probably close to 50. We received FIVE movie theater gift cards for the holidays and haven’t had the opportunity to use them; I have a bunch of retail gift cards (WHBM, Express, Kohl’s, NY & Co, American Eagle, H&M, etc) but I rarely have time to clothes shop–I’m starting to realize the gift cards were hints, haha. DH is a teacher, and his students usually give him a LOT of target, dunkin, b&n, and starbucks gift cards (I can’t tell you how much we appreciate these–so unexpected, SO NICE!!!). We’re hoarding the Target ones for holiday shopping, but the other three are like gold in our house, so we don’t keep those for very long ;-)!
I think we are down to 3; made special trips to use several more recently.
I actually have about 4-5 gift cards with tiny amounts that I’ve been trying to get rid of
