Win a $139 NuWave oven!!!

nuwave

Pork spareribs and red potatoes ready to cook in my NuWave Oven Pro!

I was very skeptical of the NuWave Oven Pro when it arrived in the mail. It was a bulky, plastic thing that promised so much. No defrosting. Cooks food three times as fast. Portable. We are giving away one NuWave Oven Pro. Entry details below.

So, was it as good as advertised?
I made dinner with the NuWave last night using the cookbook recipefor glazed spareribs that came with the oven. The recipes are exceedingly short, even to a fault. (Some additional details would have been helpful.) But short recipes mean quick recipes. I whipped up an easy glaze for the ribs and put them on the rack to cook.

My ribs were partly frozen, so I planned to cook them for 25 minutes on a side, instead of 15 minutes on a side, as per the recipe. But after 25 minutes, I cut open the biggest rib and they were cooked through! The red potatoes on the bottom of the NuWave Oven were still firm, however, so I sliced them into four pieces and let them cook an extra 10 minutes.
The ribs and potatoes tasted very good and in total took less than an hour, from pulling everything out of the fridge to sitting down at the table. I made a green salad on the side while everything was cooking. It could have been much quicker had I fully defrosted the pork and sliced the potatoes to start.
In short, if you hate heating your entire oven or have a limited kitchen, the NuWave Oven Pro is a decent alternative.
THERE ARE FIVE WAYS to enter the contest to win the NuWave Oven Pro. Do as many as you like!!!

My favorite way to save time in the kitchen is to wash, chop, and prep all my veggies as soon as I get home from the grocery store. Then I keep them in Ziplocs in the fridge, and they’re all ready to go for salads, steaming, or sauteeing on busy weeknights!

I save time in my kitchen by having lists of both my freezers and my up and downstairs pantry stock, so all I have to do is cross off what I’ve used and I know when I’m running low on items. I keep a list on the inside of my pantry door, and even my family knows to cross it off it they’ve used it! saves SO much time searching 🙂

I start my cleanup while cooking to save time. I fill a sink with hot, soapy water and drop untensils, lids, pans, etc in as I finish with them. While food finishes cooking I wash whatever is in the sink. It saves a lot of cleanup time after eating!

I love to cook extra rice/protein/veggie on one night, then use it for another as fried rice. Cooks up quickly… add a sauce like teriyaki, soy mixed with ginger & sauteed garlic, etc. toss green onions at end and you’re set.

My favorite thing to save time in the kitchen is through technology and innovative kitchen appliances. Basically, let the machine take care of most of the work so that I am free to relax or multi-task with other things. The NuWave oven would allow me to do that.

I save time by following you and all your great tips on Twitter & Facebook in my kitchen!

I save time in the kitchen by pre-cooking and “staging” many of my cooking chores… i.e. cooking a whole bag/pot of onions, celery, garlic, etc. then freezing in “portion packs” (both individual ingredients and various combo-packs), so I can quickly add them to meals when needed. I also keep a sheet of pre-printed lableson hand to save time labling.

I also save time by requiring my family to load thier own dishes in to the dishwasher; and put away food/supplies after every use, so I dont have to clean up the kitchen in order to cook!

I also have 2 “meal swaps” per week where family, friends/neighbors, eat at my home on a certain night, and we eat at thier home (friends host hamburger night; we host taco/nacho nights, and vice-versus). My mom hosts caserole, stroganoff spagetti nights, and we (adults) take our parents out to a nice dinner so we all gets a break from the kitchen, from the kids, so we can have adult conversations and discuss family matters!
    Happy Thanksgiving
