Reader AliceB is puzzling over a Target purchase where she expected to get a bonus gift card, but didn’t. She left the comment below on one of our drugstore freebies and deals post. She wrote:
Last week I thought there was a $5 gift card from Target when you bought a Scrubbing Bubbles One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner Starter Kit “” when I purchased it, I was told that it was not eligible for the $5 gift card.
I am so confused!!
Alice, I understand your frustration. I received a $5 gift card from Target when I purchased my Starbucks coffee beans and now I can’t find the card. Darn!
No need to fret. Target tends to bring back promotions that are popular. I’ve found the store has brought back the Starbucks gift card promo a couple times since I bought my beans. Like I mentioned in my reply to your comment, this promotion was not posted on BargainBabe.com.
Here are some tips to avoid falling into a similar situation in the future:
- Make sure to check when the promotion ends as it may be different than Target’s sale cycle.
- Before picking up items check to see if the promotion is advertised at the shelves. If you saw them advertise the promo you may have a case. Talk to customer service.
- Grab the right size or amount. The promos for free gift cards often require you to purchase a particular item or amount of said item. For example, if you bring the wrong scented item to the register, you won’t be able to get your gift card.
