I gobbled my breakfast this morning and was at my local Stop & Shop at 7:17 a.m. to take advantage of their amazing grocery sale that started today. I had my eye on a 14-piece Pyrex set that would cost me more than $38 at Target. This week it was just $15. An employee helped me find the set, which was towering above the end of the baking aisle.
I grabbed one of three.
Then I headed to the butter aisle, where Land O’Lakes butter was 2 for $5. I laughed when I saw the price for Stop & Shop’s generic brand – $3.29 a pound. I shoved six into my cart. Butter freezes well.
Having scored my top two sale items, I shopped aisle by aisle for the items on my list, most of which were discounted. Tangerines, carrots, humus, peanut butter, orange juice, etc. I did not buy many vegetables because we pick up our CSA share today, which is a great deal on organic groceries.
I regret not bringing more coupons with me. My plan to check the coupon database at AFullCup.com was waylaid by a work event that ran late last night. AFullCup tells you when a particular coupon was published, so you can pull it out of your files to clip without looking through every insert going back three months.
My bill rang up to $124.24, but with sales and coupons I spent $95.19. I saved 25%, or $31.11. The whole trip took me less than 35 minutes.
Did you score any great grocery deals this week?
