I don't think I've ever given my kids bad money advice, though I've probably given them money advice that they did not follow, but that's another story. Although my parents did not really give me money advice, they lived a very responsible financial life and set an excellent example with their spending habits and adversion to debt that has stayed with me once I was on my own. That is when I wanted to work, was happy to work, and could have saved up way more for college. They also didn't want me to get a credit card.
