Leaving an impression on your mom doesn’t have to leave one on your wallet! /Julie Hills
As a new mom, the number one thing on my wish list this year is a full night’s sleep. I’ve asked my husband for help with nighttime feedings, since the baby hasn’t gotten the hint yet. From her, all I need are a few more gorgeous smiles that make it all worth it.
Now that I’m a mom myself, I have a new appreciation for my own mother and the years of sacrifice and dedication she poured into her children. But I know that she really means it when she says “doesn’t need anything.”
So instead of blowing a wad of cash on some “thing” that will need dusting on the shelf, I’m going to show my appreciation for her years of lost sleep with gifts from this list of frugal gifts for Mother’s Day. (more…)
How far would you go to save on your wedding? Via Shutterstock
I heard the most bizarre story on NPR about a broker who resells weddings that have been called off by the bride and groom. To avoid losing deposits for the caterer, venue, and more, the broker resells the wedding to a couple who would rather not plan their own wedding! Plus, the couple that steps in gets a nice discount.
Is the bridal broker taking advantage of heartbroken couples, or making the most of a crummy situation?
Are you ready for the Easter bunny to make a stop at your home on Sunday? There’s still time to spruce up your home with DIY Easter egg decorations. I’m sharing a video by YouTube user HeyKayli, who shows you how to make this fun craft.
This DIY project is easy to make! All you need is balloons, string, and starch. I’ve seen these decorations sold at stores for big bucks, but you can find all materials at the dollar store so this project is cheap to make! The video is quite long, but you can easily forward.
We’ve got you covered with tips to host a budget-friendly Easter party.
The other day, my non-frugal hubby came home with $40 of drugstore products that I could have bought for $8 at the dollar store. I smiled sweetly and made a mental note to keep these items in stock so he doesn’t run out. (Smiling sweetly is my secret to a long marriage.)
Although the quality of the items sold at the dollar stores varies greatly, there are some items that are just foolish to buy at regular retail price. Thanks to readers, we have grown this list from 10 to 67 items!!!!
Here are ten 15 28 30 37 49 67 items that I always pick up at the dollar store.
Use an eggshell as a biodegradable plant starter.
My handy hubby announced the other day that it was not good to put egg shells down the garbage disposal. Since we eat a lot of eggs, I had to figure out something (other than just into the garbage can) to do with those shells. I found some great ideas and I’m sharing them with you.
Here are my top 8 ideas for using eggshells:

Yes, you can stick to the registry and buy odds and ends like diaper creme and wash cloths, but why not buy something really special? Something the mom-to-be will look at for years and years? Something that will always make her think of you, like the super soft white plush blanket my sister gave me for my first child.

So put down your car keys and get off the phone with the florist; nobody is paying $49 for a dozen roses that are going to die before you get them in a vase.
