Leaving an impression on your mom doesn’t have to leave one on your wallet! /Julie Hills

As a new mom, the number one thing on my wish list this year is a full night’s sleep. I’ve asked my husband for help with nighttime feedings, since the baby hasn’t gotten the hint yet. From her, all I need are a few more gorgeous smiles that make it all worth it.

Now that I’m a mom myself, I have a new appreciation for my own mother and the years of sacrifice and dedication she poured into her children. But I know that she really means it when she says “doesn’t need anything.”

So instead of blowing a wad of cash on some “thing” that will need dusting on the shelf, I’m going to show my appreciation for her years of lost sleep with gifts fromĀ this list of frugal gifts for Mother’s Day. (more…)

Bridal Broker: Buy A Canceled Wedding At a Discount

How far would you go to save on your wedding? Via Shutterstock

I heard the most bizarre story on NPR about a broker who resells weddings that have been called off by the bride and groom. To avoid losing deposits for the caterer, venue, and more, the broker resells the wedding to a couple who would rather not plan their own wedding! Plus, the couple that steps in gets a nice discount.

Is the bridal broker taking advantage of heartbroken couples, or making the most of a crummy situation?

The other day, my non-frugal hubby came home with $40 of drugstore products that I could have bought for $8 at the dollar store. I smiled sweetly and made a mental note to keep these items in stock so he doesn’t run out. (Smiling sweetly is my secret to a long marriage.)

Although the quality of the items sold at the dollar stores varies greatly, there are some items that are just foolish to buy at regular retail price. Thanks to readers, we have grown this list from 10 to 67 items!!!!

Here are ten 15 28 30 37 49 67 items that I always pick up at the dollar store.

If you’ve waited until now to start shopping for Valentine’s Day gifts, you’re officially out of time. The day of romance has arrived. But if you still don’t have anything for the special guy or gal in your life, you’re not completely out of luck.

I’ve found some last-minute Valentine’s gifts that are still available right now (and in some cases, will remain available throughout the weekend), plus coupons and special offers to help you keep costs low. So put down your car keys and get off the phone with the florist; nobody is paying $49 for a dozen roses that are going to die before you get them in a vase.

If free is your price, check out Yazmin’s post reviewing the best free ecard sites.
