costco Shopping secrets for Costco, BJs and Sams Club

greenwenvy08 / Flickr

This is a post by BargainBabe.com writers Yazmin Cruz and Julia Scott.

I love shopping at Costco. I feel like a kid in a candy store especially with all the yummy samples! Below I share tips to save money while shopping at warehouse clubs.

1. Avoid food samples. As tasty as they are, the chance you will buy a new product goes through the roof when you put it in your mouth.

2. Consider executive. A regular annual membership is $50. An executive membership is $100. I recently calculated that my friend, who upgraded, would have to spend $2,584 a year in the warehouse, plus $780 a year in gas, and buy a $500 vacation through Costco to make his money back. Is a Costco executive membership worth it for you?

A friend from the Los Angeles Daily News sent in this tip about the dark side of coupon sites:

Hey Julia, thought this might interest you.

I’ve been seeing lots of ads for a site called “Coupon Suzy” (couponsuzy.com) so I decided to check them out.

The site itself looks like it offers some decent coupon deals, but to actually print a coupon, you have to install THEIR printer driver.

A little Google detective work revealed that

bed bath beyond How to save money at Bed Bath and Beyond
TheGiantVermin / Flickr

This is a post by BargainBabe.com writer Yazmin Cruz.

A while back Bargain Babe found out she can use in store Bed Bath and Beyond 20% off coupons online to save money. In comments, readers shared tips to saving money at BBB that seemed to good to be true! I contacted the company to verify the suggestions.

Stackable coupons – Manufacturer’s coupons can be used in addition to any store coupons for the same item. If you have trouble, ask to speak to the store manger or call corporate. Note, Tammy said her local store refused to stack coupons.

Doubling up - While some stores allow you to apply multiple 20% off coupons to a single item, most allow only one coupon per item.

Scary. That’s the only way to describe this week’s preview of Extreme Couponing, airing tonight on TLC. The clip below is about a family that coupons so their 6-year old can be a beauty pageant queen.

Check out our Coupon Database for the latest grocery, drugstore, and magazine coupons. Each week we share the top grocery coupon matches and the top drugstore coupon matches, including many freebie items! How does watching the show make you feel? I feel guilty that I don’t use more coupons.

bed bath beyond coupons 225x300 Bed Bath & Beyond coupon tip + giveaway

These "in store only" BBB coupons CAN be used online!

Did you know you can use “in store only” coupons for Bed Bath & Beyond online? Here’s how I stumbled upon this awesome money-saving strategy.

I wanted to buy a pan on the Bed Bath & Beyond wedding registry of two friends tying the knot soon. If I bought the pan online, I qualified for free shipping but wouldn’t be able to use my 20% off coupon.

If I bought in the store, I could use my 20% off coupon, but would have to wrap and lug the item to the post office. I know this option would be cheaper, but take more time.

cereal shelf clear raisin bran 224x300 BB clears the shelf for cereal!

I cleared the shelf!

I needed potatoes. So on our way home, my husband and I stopped by Stop & Shop to grab the one ingredient I needed to make my mom’s beef stew.

$102 later we walked out of the store.

“You should do the grocery shopping more,” my husband said. “You’re a better shopper.”

“Are you kidding? We just spent $102,” I said. “You would have come home with a $3 bag of potatoes.”

He nodded.

No matter who is the “better” shopper, we did score some amazing deals to the tune of 33% off our total bill. I’m proudest of the 20-ounce boxes of Raisin Bran we snagged for $1 each. Here’s how we did it.
