My favorite way to save money is by using coupons – in every form! Paper, electronic, downloadable, printable, codes, you name it. I’ve only been couponing since March of last year, and I’ve already saved thousands of dollars. I wouldn’t say that I’m a slave to couponing, but I have a family to provide for and we do what we have to do to get by! I’ve gotten so much help along the way from websites like yours. And it has paid off, literally!

I think a thrifty attitude is the best way to save money – being constantly aware of your spending! For me, though, getting rid of cable has been one of the best things I’ve done to save a bit of cash. I think I’m more productive, and spend more time being aware of my activity!

I liked you on Facebook and already receive your emails. My favorite new way to save money is by getting great deals on the Restaurant.com gift certificates and Groupons. I once got a $40 meal at a local BBQ place for $5 thanks to a Groupon and a $5 off email deal that I received from Groupon. I am a frequent purchaser of the restaurant.com gift certificate to a local Italian place. We can usually get a $35 to $45 meal for less than $20 including tip!

I have been reading you since the Daily News, 4 1/2 years, wow!
My favorite way to save money is to rethink the things I buy. When I buy a want, not a need, I ask myself if I love, love, love it. I used to buy a lot of clothes, just because I liked them. Then you get them home and they are ok. Now I only buy clothes I love, love, love. It has not only saved me money but I actually wear and enjoy everything I buy!

My favorite way to save is to never buy clothing full-priced and to use the local goodwill prices as my standard for a very good deal ie $4 for most items and $7 for dresses and jeans. However, my latest goal is to make my wardrobe more Eco-friendly, so my standards have changed to getting eco-clothing 70% off, which is $10 to $15 dollars for a shirt and $20 bucks for a pair of pants.

Among my favorite ways to save money is the tried-and-true “hourly wage” scenario. Suppose you make $9 an hour at a retail job, the only one you could get after graduating into a recession. Now suppose a well-heeled friend wants you to go out to dinner. Is that salad and glass of wine going to be worth two hours of your life? If so, then bon appetit and look for a BOGO. If not, then suggest that she come over to your place — you could make a frugal yet elegant dinner followed by a long catching-up session. If you’re lucky, she’ll even bring the wine!
Note: Check sites like Cheap Healthy Good for recipes that are easy, very classy and inexpensive.

My favorite way to save money is going to the $1.50 movies … when movies leave the “regular pricy theater” and before they go on dvd they go to the $1.50 theater here (even 3d movies but those are $2) for about $15 my daughter husband and I (sometimes she brings a friend) get to watch the movie and eat popcorn & drink soda & candy!!!

Yes, I remember the Daily News…I forget the first article that took me to your column but one was all that was needed. You made saving money and looking for ways to save money fun.
I’m so pround of what you’ve accomplished and how much you’ve helped all of us–I feel like a second cousin once removed—you’re family–maybe not close, but family.
So happy things have turned out so well (with lots and lots of hard work, I know) for you.
My way to save money? I ask myself ‘Do I need this’ before every purchaae, and for the things I need, wait until a special offer or coupon comes along. It’s taught me patience in a way nothing else could.
If I need a shopping rush, I’ll go to an online store, buy things…but then after I look at the shopping cart and see what they would cost me, shake my head and delete them all.
And I am thankful there’s a thrift store (Out of the Closet) that sells paperbacks several for a dollar–and I get a senior’s discount so it’s 4 or 5 for a buck. It’s on the way to the grocery store so no added gas costs either!
Best wishes for many, many more years of helping up not just save money, but discover new ways to see things and value what we see and do.

My favorite way to save money is to be content—realizing that “a bargain isn’t a bargain if I don’t need it”, as my Grandpa used to say. I have had to tell myself that again and again. If something is 75% off– I am STILL spending 25% that I could save. It is only a bargain if I can really use it.

I use coupons whenever they’re available so that I can avoid paying full price for most items, especially at the grocery store. When I’m tempted to buy something online or from a catalog (a ‘want’ rather than a ‘need’), I make a note of the item(s), then wait a week or 10 days. If still want it, I buy it. If I’m iffy about the product, I don’t buy it. Helps me with my buying on a whim weakness. Winning the Amazon card would be wonderful!

My favorite way to save money involves the holidays–rather after the holidays. I hit the stores a couple days after the holidays to get the 75% off sales and about a week after, CVS, Target and TRU go to 90% off! I get costumes, theme halloween baking pans, colored sprinkles, wrapping paper, gift bags and even toys for under a dollar a piece! Always worth it–never know what treasures are hidden on the shelves and are considered “holiday” items at 75 to 90% off! Love it!

I subscribe to BB, and have shared with many people new to coupons/bargain shopping. I purchase most items on sale and use coupons from magazines, newpapers, mailbox flyers and ones I have printed from coupon sites. I have walked up and given strangers coupons after noticing the items in their cart. If a co-worker mentions baby showers, I save my baby related ones for her. I have shopped Goodwill and Salvation Army for years, since way before it was cool. My b-friend used to hassle me about it until I found him a like new full length trench coat for $15. I also shop stores when they mark down meat, usually 25% due to close exp date. When stores add up your sales savings and add up your coupon savings, print that on bottom of receipt, it is really motivating!

Sales, sales, sales….in conjunction with coupons, rebates and special offers…that’s how I “try” to save money!

My favorite way to save money is to shop thrift stores. I love getting comments about how great my outfit is, knowing that it cost me a fraction of what it would have cost new.
I’m an email subscriber and love sharing your tips on FB.
Congratulations on three years and thanks for keeping me up to date on all things thrifty.

I save money by using every last drop of lotion or toothpaste or whatever–even if it means cutting open the bottle

I use coupons at the grocery/discount stores and also shop clearance a lot. I don’t buy just because I like it or it’s a good deal but because I or someone I know can use it.

I am ending my 2nd week of writing down every penny spent and on what. At the end of the month, I plan on categorizing everything and seeing where I can cut back. I’m already seeing some patterns!

I put money in a jar everytime I make a good choice such as wanting an ice cream or fast food and then not getting it or making a better choice at home. I put away the money I would have spent and save it for something better later.

my favorite way to save is by budgeting and sticking to it by using cash each month…by keeping everything categorized in envelopes, i know how much i have each month and can ONLY spend that much.

My favorite way to save money on eating out is restaurant.com which I found on your website while you were still working for the Daily News!
