I went shopping yesterday and came home with three pairs of pants and two pairs of shoes, $139 later. I started at Macy’s, where I found two pairs of shoes that I loved. They were on sale, plus I had a 10% off coupon. Cha-ching!
The soft leather, hardy sole, and distinctive look of this pair of creamy tan slingbacks sold me. They are made by Lucky Brand, which I didn’t even realize made shoes. I wear flats ALL the time and was down to one lime green pair. I paid $49.77 for them (orig. $79, on sale for $55.30).
I rarely find appealing shoes in the jumbled clearance racks, but a pair of Born slip-ons caught my eye. I love Born shoes because the shoes are comfortable and last a long time. I’m still wearing a pair of black Born boots I bought 7 years ago. The pair I found yesterday was a size 9 (I wear a size 10), but the leather is pliable and will stretch to fit my foot. I paid $56.70 (orig. $90, on sale for $63).
I’m wearing both pairs around the house this week to make sure I like them and that they fit comfortably. Overall, I got them at a 37% discount (before tax). I could have saved more if I bought used shoes, which is a good idea as long as you abide by certain rules.
Later in the day I dropped into Out of the Closet, a thrift store that benefits AIDS research and testing. I found three pairs of pants that fit me, which is as close as you can get to a miracle. A pair of chocolate brown Union Bay cords, a gray-black pair of BDG skinny jeans, and a pair of black crushed velvet pants by Patrizia Pepe. I paid $22.27 for all three, $5.77, $8.25, and $8.25.
Did you find any bargains this Labor Day weekend? The Macy’s I went to was packed!
