This is a post by BargainBabe.com writer Yazmin Cruz.

I’ve written before about how to get free or discounted gift cards. Now, I want to share some awesome gift cards deals that come with perks.

Some of these promotions are ongoing while some are tied to promotions for Father’s Day and graduation season so make sure to call ahead to find out if the promotion has not been discontinued in your area.

  • Chili’s – The restaurant is offering 10% off gift cards of $100 or more as part of their dads and grads promotion.
  • Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf – This is one of my favorite coffee shops and I’ve written before about how swiping my credit card to pay for my caffeine addiction cost me a bundle. To stay on budget with my coffee purchases I bought a gift card and got a free drink. You can too! Purchase a $25 gift card at Coffee Bean and get a free drink. It’s unclear how long this will last.
  • Starbucks – If you are a Starbucks aficionado, then this is the gift card for you. (more…)

coffee filter 300x199 Your tip: create an email filter for BB emails

Filter your coffee - and email - for best results. Credit: tuchodi/Flickr

Longtime reader Diane shares her tip for never missing a BargainBabe.com email (emphasis mine). Setting up a filter will help you keep track of all Bargainbabe.com’s money saving tips. It’s easier than you think and saves so much time! Thanks for your readership, Diane!

I want to report that there are some days, like today (May 24), when I don’t get my daily BB e-mail.  When this dawns on me, I know I can go to BargainBabe.com, but sometimes I don’t realize until a day or two later that I didn’t receive it.  To help me, I have created a filter that does the following to each day’s blog: Star it, Apply label “Bargain Babe”, Never send it to Spam, Mark it as important, Exclude from SmartLabel categorization. This way, if I haven’t received it, I know specifically where to look for it. If I still can’t find it, I know it wasn’t sent and then can go to the URL.

I wonder if any of the other readers also have noticed some skipped days.  ~Diane

It sounds like Diane uses Gmail, which is free and a great tool for reading and managing email. Other programs, like Outlook, may offer similar filtering options. MakeUseOf.com has tips to set up email filters in Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo.

corn fresh Cheap summer fruits and vegetables

Corn is already $.20 an ear in my 'hood. Credit: Bitman/Flickr

Coupons for produce is almost unheard of, so one way I keep my grocery bill down is buying in season fruit and vegetables. Look for prices on the below produce to start falling. Produce grown close to home is also a good bargain bet.

This list comes from FruitsandVeggiesMoreMatters.org, which has more info and recipes when you click on the links below. My favorite summer produce includes beets, green beans, corn, peaches, strawberries with mint for dessert, and tomatoes for fresh salsa. What about you?

Apricots
Asian Pear
Beets
Black Currants
Bell Peppers

Trader Joes 300x225 Six ways to save money at Trader Joes

Wendy Copley / Flickr

This is a post by BargainBabe.com writer Yazmin Cruz.

I like shopping at Trader Joe’s because of their friendly customer service and their money-saving deals. If you’re new to TJ’s, here are six tips to boost your savings at this grocery store.

Try it before you buy it – Don’t spend money on food your family doesn’t like. Keep in mind that any product on the shelf can be sampled. Employees are allowed to open up any jar or box to let customers try them. No can do on wine, though. The Trader Joe’s I frequent also has a section in the back where they always give out free samples. I’ve been able to try sauces, salads and their coffees before forking over my hard earned cash.

Avoid prepared foods – Trader Joe’s has a variety of food from Mexican to Indian cuisine, but it’s easy to spend too much! My favorite right now is
