Remember MyPersonalShopper.com? I blogged about the site months ago, but now MyPersonalShopper has been transformed into your very own personalized store. It’s a pretty cool twist on all the social deal sites.
In four quick steps, MyPersonalShopper is at your beck and call. Select which types of deals you are interested in, chose your five favorite retailers, chose five things you like to spend money on, then share your age, gender, zip code, and email.
Instead of getting daily emails bombarding you with deals (ahem, Groupon), MyPersonalShopper will send you just two emails a week, which is a reflection of their commitment to quality over quantity. Each email uses a special algorithm so the deals are tailored to your spending habits and needs.
Submit a tip on how to improve the site, and the best submission each week will win a $100. If you want the best deals tailored to your favorites, create an account at MyPersonalShopper today.

Finding family activities that don’t break my budget and are stimulating is a challenge. As a homeschooler, I am always on the lookout for places to learn and have a good time. We are fortunate to have many wonderful institutions that allow for such activities. Depending on how often you go, membership may save you money. Here are five of my favorites:
- Children’s Museums. Many major cities have invested in children’s museums. These museums are set up to withstand rigorous play and encourage “hands on” activities, as opposed to the normal look but don’t touch rule. A truly fabulous place to go with young children.
- Science Museums. My favorite is the Boston Science Museum. With its proximity to M.I.T., it is hard to (more…)

In a previous post I wrote about natural cleaners that can save you money. One of those inexpensive cleaners was vinegar. I’ve used vinegar everywhere from the kitchen to the bathroom and below I’ve shared a laundry list (literally) of different ways to use vinegar around your home. (Watch me gush about vinegar on camera.)
I have tried most of these suggestions with positive results. Before trying them yourself, make sure to test the solutions in an inconspicuous place to avoid damage. To learn about secret uses for ammonia, salt, foil and baking soda, check out Bobbi’s post.
- Kill weeds in your garden by spraying full strength until they starve.
- Clean pots with white vinegar before re-potting to remove excess lime.

Have you ever waited a really long time to buy something? I have been in the market for a new purse for more than a year, but yesterday my long wait was redeemed by a fantastic deal!
I opened an email from Ebates saying the cash back rebate at Ebags.com had jumped from 6% to 20% off. One day only! So in between blogging, I hunted the site for my dream bag. Not too big, a casual design, and something that could be worn across my body. After years of traditional purses, I wanted a mini messenger bag.
I was eyeing a $30 polyester messenger bag, which reviews said was low quality, or a $35 cloth satchel, which I knew would quickly lose its shape. Then I found (more…)

I’m having second thoughts about giving up my car for Lent. Not because of my business trip to Los Angeles that will pose a particular public transportation challenge, but because a video shoot I’m doing that was moved from today to next week and the location is three hours away!
Three hours by car, that is. By bus, train, and foot I’m guessing it will take me five hours to get there. I need to be on location by 10 a.m. Yikes! It’s an all day shoot so I won’t start my trek home 5 p.m. Double yikes!
Also, it’s supposed to snow Thursday. Yikes, yikes, yikes.
I can throw in the towel, brace myself for a long commute and stick to my pledge, or exempt myself from autolessness for work. Thoughts?
I was curious if Amazon Mom was a good deal because a frugal friend told me she orders all her toiletries through Amazon instead of pouncing on drugstore freebies and deals. Having just taken advantage of a 20% off sale at CVS.com, I was eager to compare prices. Did I get the best deal?
If you’ve new to Amazon Mom, it is free to join and offers free two-day shipping and a 30% discount on diapers and wipes when you sign up for auto delivery. Everything outside the baby store is 15% off and still eligible for two-day free shipping.
Here is a price comparison of the items I bought at CVS.com, and how much they would have cost me at Amazon. (If you’re curious about how Amazon’s grocery prices compare, you’re in for an unpleasant surprise.)

If you’re cleaning up your home this spring, don’t just throw things away. Make money from spring cleaning by selling things you no longer need or want. Below you will find my suggestions for where to sell used books, clothes, electronics and much more. I added five suggestions to avoiding a major headache when selling items.
- Clothes – If your clothes are in good condition try selling them at a local local flea market. This will be time consuming as you’ll have to find a local flea market and wait till an interested party approaches you. If you don’t have time for this, use sites like eBay and Smashion.com.
