  • EllieD Says:

“How to Survive on a Teacher’s Salary” just might be useful to me, trying to exist on less than 50% of what I made working in the classroom! And the Macy’s gift card would come in handy for linens, bedding, kitchenware, etc. Since my grandson and his girlfriend are in a new (to them) home, they need lots of “stuff,” especially for the kitchen, as they’re both into learning to cook gourmet meals.

  • Julie Says:

I would like the “Secrets of a Stingy Soundrel”. My father was one of those. People said he could make a penny scream and kept his house chilly all winter but when he died, He had a two Lexus’ in his gargage(paid cash). a very nice home(bought for investment purposes) and enough money in the bank(investments)that my mom could retire nicely. I would like to compare notes and pick up a few new secrets. The Macy’s card, I would give to my daughters for formals for college for their fine arts progrms. Thank you.

  • Erica Says:

I’d like the “Free Fun Guides”

  • Cori Says:

I posted the contest on FB!!

  • meital Says:

“How to shop for free” is the book i would choose. I am a college student now halfway across the country, and am completely independent. Back in LA I had all of the goodie/ freebie deals in my area up my sleeve. Now that i’m on the other side of the country, I need to learn some new basic tricks of the trade to become a pro again.

I would spend the $250 gift card on household items/ goods and other furniture I am going to need to buy once I move into my new apartment in a couple months.

I would also probably buy my mother a meaningful gift to show her my appreciation for the life she has given me and the way she has raised me. I am who I am because of her. She doesn’t pause enough to credit herself for this because she is busy worrying about the other 3 children in my family. She raised a set of triplets and my older brother [2.5 year gap] almost all on her own while working a full time job at work. She really deserves a meaningful gift. It would be so great if I could show her my appreciation with a nice gift.

  • Sarah Says:

I would spend the $250 Macy’s card on stuff for my son to go to college next fall!

  • Sue Says:

    Hi Julia,
I’d like to win the book “How to survive on a teacher’s salary”. My daughter is a first year teacher and sure could use some budgeting help. The Marcy’s card would help her get some clothes to wear in her classroom.

  • Wendy K. Says:

I would love the book “Debt Free U”. And I agree with Connie Johnson on January 11th in the AM. I’m not fond of Macy’s because you can’t get much for the money you pay. I like to see LOTS of things in my shopping bags when I get home, for the small amoung of money I spent. I’d trade the gift card or sell it, and go to Wal-mart and get my family the necessities we need, not want. My motto is, “If it’s not on sale and I don’t have a coupon, than I’m not buying it”!

  • Carolyn Sansbury Says:

I would love the How to shop for free and I would update my wardrobe at Macy’s.

  • Kristi Says:

I want to learn how to “shop for free.” Wow. Sounds like something I could learn to love. I would love the gift card to purchase new clothes to go with the New Years resolution to lose weight.

  • Anissa Telle Says:

The stingy scoundrels books sounds interesting. I would buy some great new pots at Macy’s.

  • Rachell Says:

I would love the “How to Shop for Free” book. After discovering this site I have been making much wiser decisions when making purchases. I have been looking for ways to spend less because I am a nursing student and mother of a baby girl who is about to turn 1 on Jan 26! My fiance and I just bought a home and I would definitely use the $250 Macy’s gift card to furnish the house (& also spoil my daughter a little more!).

  • gaelen Says:

I’d like to win the “How to Shop for Free” book. With the Macy’s gift card I’d buy lots of warm gear for winter and presents for family and friends!

  • Laura M. Says:

“How to Shop for Free” would be for me! I would see if I could buy smaller amounts of gift cards with the $250 GC and give them away as gifts. I might treat myself with $25 of it if I found a bargain. That would be quite a few gifts to make other people happy.

  • Janet Says:

I’d love the Free Fun LA book and with the Macy gift card I would buy cosmetic gifts for friends and family when the gift with purchase time comes up for Lancome, Clinique or Estee Lauder. What a treat!

  • Kristi Says:

I’d love to win the book, “How to Shop for Free”. I’m always looking for good deals.
I would use the gift card to buy new clothes. I have a lot of clothes that are either too big or several years old. I would donate my old clothes to charity and buy new ones.

  • Bri Says:

I’d want to win “How to Shop for Free” since I already read Debt Free U (it’s awesome…and at my college library, yay!). As for Macy’s, I’d get a SUPER EARLY head start on purchasing people’s gifts for next year. I’m pretty sure there’s a gift for everyone in my life at Macy’s and I’d love to get that shopping accomplished early.

  • Sue K. Says:

I’m a daily subscriber and have followed you since Daily News days. It’s hard to believe it’s your second anniversary on line. The Macy’s card would be great for my three grandchildren and maybe a bit for me.

  • Marie Says:

I would love to have a copy of the book “Debt Free U” because my husband and I owe so much money for years of fertility treatments. We tried to get pregnant for 6 years and our dream finally came true. It would be great to get some helpful tips on paying this off and getting our debt resolved. It is a lot of money to pay off, but so worth it!! I would also like the $250.00 Macy’s gift card to buy my husband some things that he could use for a change. I am always buying stuff for myself and he never buys for himself. He works very hard and deserves some things for him.

  • Myke Says:

I’m a pretty good shopper but I would like “How to Shop for Free”. I always pass along tips to my friends.

With the Macy’s GC I would update my wardrobe. I have been unemployed for a long time so I really need new clothes.

  • Hayley Says:

I just updated my facebook with your link

  • Hayley Says:

I really want to win “Debt Free U” so I can figure out how to fix the financial mess my ex-husband left me with. If I had a $250 gift card to Macy’s I would use it to buy myself jewelry; something frivolous with an Emerald (my birthstone), because I deserve it and don’t treat myself quite enough (and can’t afford to—see first sentence re:ex-husband and financial mess).

  • Lori Scheirer Says:

I want to win the book about how to survive on a teacher’s salary because social workers like me make even less!! I would spend the Macys gift card I would buy myself a nice watch (don’t have one) and buy my daughter something she would like. I have been unemployed for 4 months and would love to treat us both!!

  • Lori Scheirer Says:

I would love to win the book about living on a teacher’s budget, especially since that’s what I’m probably going to be on now that I got laid off. Oh well, perfect time to start blogging full time, right?

Anyways, I’d spend the Macy’s gift card on things for our new condo. Most likely some good linen for the rooms, and maybe a kitchen appliance.

I would also love to win the $250 gift card to Macy’s so my daughter could get some new clothes. My husband is laid off of work for a few months so we haven’t been able to afford to buy all the things that she needs. She recently started basketball and I can’t afford to buy basketball shoes so she wears her gym shoes. She has NEVER complained – EVER, so I would love to be able to take her shopping!

I would loooooooooooove to win the book “How to Shop for Free”! I have been coupoing for a few months now. I no longer mind going into the store with all my many many coupons, and don’t even turn around when the crab behind me starts to sigh or toe tap. HOWEVER… I still feel like there is so much more that I can do to save money. Also, it takes a lot of time to find, print and cut all those coupons (not to mention the cost of ink and paper). I’m sure that I could learn lots of useful tips from the book that will help me further my still developing skills.

I head for the 75% off clearance racks on a week when there is an extra percentage off AND $10.00 off of $25.00 coupon in the paper. I am losing weight and I am in dire need of work clothes, so that would likely me what the majority of the giftcard would be used on. Hubby has been out of work for nearly 2 years so wardrobe is the last thing on my “must have” list.
