This is your last chance to enter the contest sponsored by StoreCrowd.com to win a $100 Target gift card and a $200 Amazon gift card. Right now there are only 69 entries so your chances of winning are quite good! The contest ends Dec. 19, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. Here’s how it works.
1. Register and review a retailer on StoreCrowd.com, a site that offers coupon codes and reviews from real consumers on their recent online shopping experiences. Your review can be positive, negative, or so-so. Just make sure it’s true! Register for StoreCrowd.com using Facebook or chose a username, pick a password, and plug in your email.
2. By reviewing a retailer on StoreCrowd.com you’ll be automatically entered to win the $200 Amazon gift card, a separate giveaway that StoreCrowd is running that ends Dec. 25, 2010. You can write as many as 10 reviews for 10 entries (one entry per review) for the StoreCrowd giveaway.
3. After you write a review, post a link to it in a comment on this post on BargainBabe.com. Leaving the comment on BargainBabe.com enters you to win the $100 Target gift card. A winner will be randomly chosen from the comments, so you can see exactly how many people have entered!
Get additional entries by…
- becoming a fan of StoreCrowd on Facebook (one entry)
- following @storecrowd on Twitter (one entry)
- blogging about the contest (five entries)
The winner and three runner ups will be notified by email on Dec. 20, 2010.

My lastest video with WalletPop.com put my negotiating skills into action. Make sure to watch this is you want to know how to talk a merchant into giving you a discount.
I know many families go shopping or head to the movies after opening presents Christmas morning. My family’s tradition is to go for a hike in a nearby regional park. This year I want to play three interactive games I recently learned at my improv comedy class. They are great if you want to have fun but not spend money, and have a wide range of ages. Young kids are especially good at the Colored Balls game!
Colored Balls – Stand in a circle with 5-10 people a little closer than arm’s distance apart. Chose one person as your leader who will introduce the colored balls. Start with one ball until everyone gets the hang of it. Note, you do not need any real balls as in this game the balls are imaginary! (more…)
Designed by you, stitched by us is the motto of Blank-Label.com, a site that lets you customize men’s shirts to your heart’s content. It’s a catchy idea, and the media has caught on. Blank Label has been featured on the NY Times, Fox News, Mashable, The Huffington Post, and many more.
Designing a shirt is kinda fun, actually. Button-down shirts start at $45 and with customizations sell for an average of $68. Most of the shirts are $55, but there are plenty of options below and above that price. You can choose from 40 fabrics, then customize the style of the collar, cuff, placket, shoulders, and pockets. You can individualize the buttons, add a monogram (on the cuff, pocket, or collar) and create your own label. For each customization, the site makes it very clear how much extra you are adding to your tab. As a consumer, I really appreciate that transparency.
I played with the site and designed a shirt with a lot of extras that ended up costing $66. That’s before using this Blank-Label shirt coupon code for $5 off, which appears on the site’s email newsletter sign up page. Once you submit your order, it takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive, so get on the ball for Christmas!
Blank Label also sells gift certificates if you’re not familiar with the recipient’s style or size, or think they’d get a kick out of being their own designer. Basically, a uniquely designed shirt is an awesome gift for guys, and so much better than another tie.

When my kids were little, I got almost all of their toys and clothes at yard sales. They didn’t even know that toys came in packaging until they were six years old. After all, why pay 90% more to have the toy come encased in unnecessary, resource-depleting material? A 4-year-old really doesn’t care. They only want the toy.
Since my family was used to receiving presents that were pre-owned, it was no big deal to keep doing it at Christmas time. It’s not like I’m giving them dirty, ripped and broken items. At a yard or estate sale, I find gently used or never used items that are financially out of reach if they were brand new. Just this weekend, I purchased a hip like-new soft leather jacket for my daughter. Retail price new: $200. Yard sale price: $5. It’s a no-brainer. Wrap it up in a pretty re-usable holiday bag with tissue paper and it’s a WOW present. (more…)

On Saturday I met with BargainBabe.com reader Susan from Vermont, the winner of the $600 Sears shopping challenge. Her task was to buy Christmas presents for her entire family at Sears with the $600 and my task was to catch it all on videotape. We both failed (sorta).
At the end of the day, Susan had $.88 left on her Sears card. No matter how hard she and her family tried, they couldn’t spend it all! Hehehe. Nice problem to have. My failure came a few days later, when I realized I don’t have the software to convert the flipcamera video files to a format my free video editing software would recognize. I haven’t given up all hope, but can’t promise anything.
Susan stretched the gift card with two $10 off $50 coupons valid on clothing purchases and by using a $10 Sears gift card she earned through a previous purchase. Susan also stacked up rewards points with every purchase using her Sears loyalty shopper card. Susan ended up buying: (more…)

The one-shoulder gown is modern, eye-catching, and a hot trend in bridal fashion. David’s Bridal has capitalized on it by offering the one-shoulder style in bridesmaid dresses, which start at $79. Every bridesmaid dress comes in size 2-26. The black and red ones are super cute and – I know it sounds impossible – wearable to other parties. Especially holiday parties and cocktail parties.
Mother of the bride dresses start at $99. I saw many tasteful dresses with shoulder coverings, skirt suits, and one pants and jacket combo. The dresses came in varying lengths and colors. Many were quite stunning. The wedding dresses at David’s Bridal seem very reasonably priced with many options in the $500-$600 range.
At DavidsBridal.com, you can shop by style, silhouette, size, theme, or go straight to the sales and outlet dresses. The site sells shoes, accessories, and even invitations so it’s one stop shopping.
David’s Bridal is currently hosting a giveaway to win a wedding gown or five bridesmaids dresses – your choice. You don’t have to be the bride to enter. Just share your name, email, address, and the wedding date on the site. Each month there is one winner.
One benefit to buying your bridesmaid dress, wedding dress, or mother of the bride dress online is that you can return the merchandise. In store purchases are final (presumably because you can try it on).
