computer monitor 300x225 Got my Black Friday 2010 deal!

Remember how I wrote about how to get a Black Friday deal in six steps? I followed these steps and scored big yesterday!

I narrowed down what I wanted to buy, set a budget, saved the money, and monitored Black Friday 2010 ads. Last week I found what I was looking for. A brand name 23″ LCD computer monitor with top resolution that had a 3-year warranty and was sold by a trusted retailer (Staples) that has a return policy.

The monitor had a great price, $150, but multiple drawbacks. It was only selling for this price on Black Friday, a day I would not be able to get to Staples in person. It might be available online, but maybe not. If the price drop was happening online on Black Friday, I had no idea what time the sale started. When the clock ticked 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 26? When stores opened?

That’s when I came across a Staples coupon for 15% off. Using the coupon and my $8 in Staples Rewards, I could get the monitor for $161 right now. I went to the store, checked it out, but something told me to wait for a better deal.

I’m glad I did.

Over the weekend Dell had a huge monitor sale, slashing the price of a 23″ LCD monitor with top resolution, a warranty, and return policy, from $229 to $159. Plus, I found a 10% off coupon (use Dell coupon code JW77Q0NTPXR$0K, Exp Nov. 30, 2010) that dropped the monitor price to $143.

Sold!

No need to wait for an uncertain sale or use my Staples Rewards. Black Friday is four days away, but I’ve already scored my deal!!

What deals are you looking for this Black Friday?
