Strawberries 300x194 Recipe for fresh strawberries

Have you noticed how incredibly cheap strawberries are right now? They are one of many fruits in season so the prices are fantastic. I’ve paid as little as $.79 for a pound! Here is a quick and easy recipe to serve fresh strawberries as a dessert or snack.

1 package strawberries, sliced into quarters with tops removed

1/2 juicy lemon, remove seeds and squeeze over berries

1-2 T powdered sugar, depending on how ripe your berries are

1 T chopped mint leaves

You can serve over ice cream if you want but they are delicious by themselves!

What is your favorite strawberry recipe?

In a large suacepan over med. heat, cook down oranges, berries and lemon juice until very soft -40 min or so. Add sugar and cook on low another 20 minutes. Serve over ice cream, oatmeal, yogurt. Very Yummie :)

Easy & fast (& takes me back to childhood…):
    Strawberries
    Sour cream
    Brown sugar

Dip in sour cream, dip in sugar, float away to heaven…

    A little more planning required:
Mix up a batch of meringue (I don’t have a recipe handy, but egg whites & sugar…)–cover a cookie sheet w/ wax paper, then, using a pastry bag (OR a ziplock w/ a corner snipped off) w/ large tip (smooth or star, your preference), pipe a spiral (solid), as big as you like but minimum 3″ diameter. Do as many as will fit on the try. Then pipe around the edge of each sprial, making a meringue “nest”. Cook per instructions, then cut up some fresh strawberries & put in the “nest”. Whipped cream, Cool Whip, ice cream, etc is your own preference :)
