Another ploy is when banks offer you &quot;premium account&quot; membership when it offers no perks really other than being able to cut the line in banks (who needs that with online banking?) and for their account managers moonlighting as investment managers to contact you and sweet talk you into high risk investment vehicles. And you have to maintain a higher minimum balance otherwise you get hit with $100 monthly maintenance fees!  Egad!
