Coupons from coupon train Coupon clipping train pays offWe started three coupon trains recently on BargainBabe.com, including one in Los Angeles (read my earlier post about coupon trains). I was skeptical that the benefits – saving money – would outweigh the time required to clip coupons, mail them onto the next person on the train, and remember to use the ones I pulled from the envelope sent to me.

My skepticism turns to delight when I received my first envelope – packed, just packed with coupons!!!

I took out six coupons totaling $5.75 and sent the rest onto the next person in the train with a few new coupons. The picture at right does not do justice to all the coupons I received in my train.

I put extra postage on the envelope to make sure it makes it to its next destination, but even with the $1.26 worth of stamps, I’ve come out ahead. The time required was minimal – clipping coupons only took a few minutes.

Want to join a coupon train? Just find a few friends who want to share coupons in the mail.

Coupons train, this is a new idea. But I would think this concept only works if you have a circle of friends who are into saving. Coupons are worth only a tiny amount so I’m not sure as if that’s even worth it at all. I have tons of coupons coming in every sunday but it’s never for something that I need. Well something works for others but not for me then.

The way to get over clipping coupons, is answer the question, “would you walk pass a quarter if you saw it on the ground?”. How about a half a buck, or a whole dollar?, If you are too proud or too rich to bend over and pick it up, coupon clipping is not for you, you will never be happy with any savings you make. I don’t use every coupon that comes my way, but when ever I use one, I feel better, like i picked up a quarter. When I use coupons and they ask me for a donation to MDA or whatever, I always say yes, after all that dollar I saved is going to a good cause and it not costing me anything and I’m feeling good.

I find clipping coupons easy as I do it every Sunday night, While wqtching TV. Sometimes it is even for the product in the TV ad. However, many coupons are regional, and may not be good if mailed to another region, but friends in my region already have the same coupons.
