Be aware that if you are involved in a “return” transaction, that JoAnn stores will ask for your personal ID information (name, address, phone number, ?drivers license?), even for a small cash purchase. Your personal ID information will go through many hands. The store keeps records of who makes returns, the purchases returned, dates and store locations where returns take place. Without giving personal ID information, they won’t return purchase prices on any merchandise.

Good point, Nancy. Many stores track who is returning items. I wonder if it is to catch serial returners.
