I voted none, because I don’t have kids, but I just realized I usually buy two backpacks worth of supplies for our work charity program. They recommend $40/kids–and that includes the backpack. It requires creative shopping, which is fun. (I refuse to get cheap crayons for young kids. I’m not usually a brand-snob, but my experience has shown Crayola crayons work so much better, that to me it’s worth the extra for that pleasure.)

Normally I don’t spend much but this year my daughter’s school changed to a new uniform so no hand me downs or using last year’s. For supplies I shop all the ads.
