Overall, it will be relatively cheap. Once you have all the camping gear the only major costs involved are gas and park fees for the campsite. It was THE BEST! But this year we may opt to "stay-vacation" at my sisters house in GA. I would drive from VA to NC -pick up mom- and then drive to GA. My sister has a pool in her development so that takes care of the requisite "water"! Fun can be had anywhere. It's not the place you GO TO but the PEOPLE YOU ARE WITH!
